Should you be given the grace of the revolutionary experience of Heaven on Earth, it is likely that you will want to share it with everyone. This happened to this writer. I ignored the instruction of the wise who, like the poet Goethe writing in his poem The Holy Longing, translated by the poet and storyteller Robert Bly, advises:
Tell a wise man, or else remain silent. The mass man will mock it right away.
The wise man is not gender specific. Not everyone is meant to understand your revelation. Wait for the ones who listen with the heart.
Cast Not Your Pearls Too Soon
This was also the instruction from the Master Jesus when he said:
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.— Matthew 7:6 (KJV)
Now I keep such inner revelations to myself until, as the naturalist and essayist John Burroughs in his poem Waiting declares:
My own shall come to me.
Here’s the stanza where the line appears:
Serene I fold my hands and wait,
Nor care for wind, nor tide, nor sea;
I rave no more 'gainst time or fate,
For lo! my own shall come to me.
This poem is often quoted in spiritual and metaphysical circles for its message of trust, surrender, and divine timing. It beautifully echoes the deep truth that what is truly yours—by right of being and soul—will not pass you by. The truth is never lost. It waits in silence for the one prepared to receive.
The Closet of Prayer and the Secret Place
Now I only speak of this Bringing Heaven to Earth to those who are drawn to its vibration rather than my trying to interest them in what I might have to say. The reason is there has to be an openness to receiving that which is beyond intellectual understanding. The Master Jesus gives instructions with regard to the activity of prayer, and he advises secrecy so that Divine intention rewards you in secrecy:
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. — Matthew 6:6
God’s deepest gifts are never shouted. They arrive in the silence of your own soul.
Revelation Is Not Belief
In the experience of this writer, those who are in authority who have not been graced the experience of revelation will shut down your readiness to receive such secret grace. This was the case with my sister Mary who gave her authority to men who claimed religious authority and who knew only the words and not the power beyond words. I have experienced the same with Christian ministers and gurus of other faiths who take a dogmatic approach and shut down any invitation to revelation that does not fit within the intellectual understanding they claim.
I don't share this revelatory experience with the Mass man (Goethe) because they are likely not to understand. Rather, I walk in the world KNOWING that the Secret of Secrets is inside me. I would love to have this Secret of Secrets be known to each and every one. Enemies included. This deepest revelatory wisdom cannot be taught. It must be remembered, reawakened from within.
This Is Not the Secret You Think It Is
This Secret of Secrets is not some secret technique you use to manifest some desire that might satisfy you and make you happy for a little while. Its not what is understood as The Secret which is about the Law of Attraction. The Secret of Secrets is more than attraction.
In reality, no one can reveal this Secret of Secrets that is within. It comes as an experience by way of grace. The paradox is that it is always available, but nothing you do can make it available to you. It isn't something you earn, because you cannot earn what you already are and forever are. You cannot earn the Infinite, the eternal and the KNOWING of God. That which is eternal cannot be achieved. It can only be surrendered to.
Through the Narrow Gate
Maybe now you can see why the way to Heaven on Earth is through the narrow gate. The broad gate is by way of belief. The narrow gate is by way of direct experience. The crucifixion is symbolic of your having to die to the fact that nothing you do can bring you what is called in Christian parlance, salvation. This is not a popular teaching and not one that you will find preached in most Christian churches.
Still and all we who long for the Bringing of Heaven to Earth have to do something. We have to live a paradox which is that of allowing until that point of surrender and letting go where we begin to actually live the Lord's Prayer: Thy will be done.
A glimpse of the Heaven on Earth experience is a great grace. With such a glimpse you are assured there is so much more than the drama that is the limitation of your time-bound sense of the personal self. At least you KNOW there is a deeper reality beyond this separate sense of “I, me and mine.” And if you have not known this, you are but a guest on this dark earth. — The Holy Longing, Robert Bly (translating Goethe)
Real Authority Comes by Grace
Believers have not known this “to die and so to grow,” experience, otherwise they would not be believers. Once you are graced the experience of dying into the Light, you have real authority. You've been baptized in the Spirit. You've been chosen not because you have affirmed some faith teaching, but because you have been affirmed by the “I AM” that has awakened within your consciousness. This is not some weekend high at a retreat or mission gathering.
You have, for one glorious moment, abided in the secret place of the Most High. The secret place of the Most High is within you – Heaven is within you. It is the state of conscious KNOWING familiar to all the revelators of wisdom teachings. This is the pearl of great price.
Keep it secret. Share it only with your own and those who come to you who intuit that you KNOW something they do not—but that in their hearts, they long to KNOW. This is the experience of the Holy Longing. Revelation cannot be forced. It knocks only at doors prepared to be opened.
Wait Without Waiting
Each day, close down the senses and pray in secret, which is also to pray without words and thought—to listen and be alert and wait without waiting for that which will be given to you in secret and what you do not define or try to grasp. You become an emptiness so that fulfillment might be poured through you and be made manifest as Heaven on Earth.
If these words stir something in you, perhaps that something is what you’ve always known deep down. The secret that has waited patiently beneath belief and beyond words. Let this be your gentle nudge to turn inward, to listen, to wait, and to remember. If this speaks to your holy longing, I invite you to subscribe, to share, or to simply read in silence and let it be. Heaven on Earth begins here—in you.
